Happy birthday to past Marceline resident Walt Disney!
"Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago Illinois, to his father Elias Disney and mother Flora Call Disney. After Walt's birth, the Disney family moved to Marceline Missouri, Walt lived most of his childhood here," according to justdisney.com Walt is best known for his iconic character, Mickey Mouse, his first feature length movie, "Snow White" and building the Walt Disney theme-park.
Disney passed away on December 15, 1966 in Florida. His work lives on through his studios and his company continues to create movies in his honor.
