“206 Bones” by Kathy Reichs (2009) Chicago forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan is accused of mishandling the autopsy and the case of a missing heiress from Montreal--an investigation that becomes more complicated when two more bodies of elderly women are found in Montreal and Tempe faces the very real possibility that a colleague has sabotaged work in the lab.

“Don’t Look Twice” by Andrew Gross (2009) A drive-by shooting rocks an affluent suburb, leaving an innocent man dead. A witness to the madness-along with his terrified teenaged daughter-Detective Ty Hauck launches an investigation into what looks like a vicious case of family retribution.

“The First Assassin” by John J. Miller (2010) Washington, D.C., 1861. A new president takes office, a nation begins to break apart, and Colonel Charles Rook must risk insubordination to stop a mysterious assassin who prowls a nervous city. He will need the help of an ally he does not even know he has: Portia, a beautiful slave who holds a vital clue, hundreds of miles away.

“Silencer” by James Hall (2010) A father's murder and a son's ruthless betrayal are at the heart of this new novel. Earl Hammond, the wealthy patriarch of a family of ranchers, lies dead, shot just as he was to donate his Coquina Ranch to the state to preserve it from developers. Spearheading the plan to save this environmental treasure was Thorn, a reluctant heir to a secret family fortune, who now finds himself in terrible danger as well.

And sometimes the wind blew in storms of hamburgers.

Though it is not his dream assignment, Malachi follows the man and begins to see the bigger picture of how each painful step Billy takes is a note added to a beautiful symphony that will forever change the lives of those who hear it.
